Happy Mother's Day... And More

I hope all the mothers out there have been enjoying their mother's day celebrations. Thank you all for sharing your children with me! We have had a great week! Our caterpillar and ladybug larva have almost doubled in size and we are patiently waiting for them to enter their pupa stage. We have begun documenting their growth in our bug books (below).

Day 3 They are getting big!

As we continue to track the life-cycle of our ladybugs and caterpillars we also began our plant study. This week we learned all about seeds and took some time to 'dissect' Lima Bean seeds. During our dissection the children were able to identify the seed coat, root and leaves. We also planted our seeds an hope to track their growth in our Plant Books (the flip of our Bug Books).

Below are some of the fun seed activities we worked on through out the week.

The children have been bringing in the most amazing Saxton Freymann inspired animals/people! I wish I could take some credit for their creativity, but I can't! We will, however, be taking full advantage of their interest so stay tuned! For now I will leave you with some of the cute characters that entered our classroom this week.
